My name is Abda, the atheist. I grew up in a strict Baptist home with very conservative parents. We went to church about 3 times a week and twice on Sundays. My mother’s mindset was that the more we were at church, the stronger our faith would be. The opposite effect took place. The more I was there, the more I questioned the faith, and the further I strayed away from “the light”. A philosophy course in college really pushed me over the fence and I have been an unbeliever since. I’m currently a school teacher who enjoys traveling during the summer. It’s a very freeing feeling to go to new places but it’s an even better feeling knowing I don’t have the chains of religion tied to my ankle anymore.
